Angel Fire RV Resort
If you want a really nice place to camp for a week or more in your RV, Angel Fire RV Resort in Angel Fire, New Mexico is the place to go. There is so much to do in the area and the resort is so beautiful and peaceful. Some of the amenities include a community center, level concrete pad sites, laundry and shower facilities and more. So let's get started.
Angel Fire RV Resort
The community center is in the back of the RV resort and is a large facility with three rooms available to hold public or private events whether it be banquets or fun family get togethers. Board games and ping pong is available to help with your family fun.
The resort itself also holds events here like cookouts and concerts from local artists to entertain guests staying at the resort. They also have activities you can attend each day of the week like Bingo, craft time, ice cream socials, dinners and other various activities.
Every pad site in the park is concrete. They are level which means you don’t have to have blocks for leveling your RV. This is nice because sometimes it gets a little old having to level your RV with blocks. Each site also comes with full water, electric and sewer hookups and a picnic table.
Laundry & Shower Facilities
There are two laundry and shower facilities in the resort. One is in the back side of the front office and the other is mid way through the resort next to the hot tub. It does cost to do your laundry but it’s always nice to have those facilities on site especially when you are staying a week or more. The shower facilities are clean and well kept and provide the privacy you need.
Angel Fire RV Resort does have a hot tub that’s perfect for relaxing at the end of a long day of hiking, biking or whatever else you might find to do in the area. It is available for all age groups.
One thing we really like at this park is the walking trail. It runs along the inside perimeter of the resort and makes for a peaceful walk or run whichever you prefer. The walking track is surrounded by beautiful wildflowers that are maintained by a staff on site.
Things to Do in the Summer Near Angel Fire RV Resort
There is so much to do in the area that surrounds Angel Fire. When we come here sometimes we have a hard time deciding what to do next when we only have so many days to visit. Below are a few suggestions that might spark your interest.
Mountain Bike Riding
On the ski slopes at Angel Fire Resort are mountain bike trails for the beginner or the experienced mountain bike rider. Keep in mind that you are going down hill so be prepared and wear a helmet and any other gear to help keep you safe.
The trails for beginners are long and make a gradual descent down the slopes where the trails for more experienced bikers are windy through trees and some have jumps. These trails are more difficult but so worth while.
We had a blast zip-lining at Angel Fire. We recommend making a reservation for the mornings. You can walk up and try to get a time slot in the afternoon but in our experience that has been rare. Rain and storms come through the area usually in the afternoons and if that happens, they don’t run the zip-lines. So, be sure to make a reservation.
We scheduled an 8:30 am time lot and got to do 4 zip-line's total and it was a blast. This was the first time either of us had ever done this and we had so much fun. The guides are very knowledgeable and are very sure to keep safety first. This is a lot of fun for all the family.
We had a lot of fun playing disc golf up on the ski mountain at Angel Fire. For the price of a lift ticket up the mountain, you can play disc golf for free. This is where we took this amazing photo.
Angel Fire Resort Golf
The golf course at Angel Fire Resort is open to the public and is a great place to golf. We love golfing in the mountains and this does not disappoint. Enjoy your day golfing at Angel Fire.
Taos is about 34 miles west of the Angel Fire RV Resort up Highway 64. There is lots of shopping and good restaurants in Taos. It’s a great place to visit for the day. You can also ski here in the winter.
Visit Red River
Red River is about 35 miles north of the Angel Fire RV Resort. Red River is a small town that also has a ski area. In the summertime, however, you can spend an afternoon strolling the main street to visit many shops in town. If you stay for dinner, we highly recommend you eat at Texas Reds Steak House located on the main street. The food is excellent.
Red River also uses their ski slopes in the summer for summer fun like, disc golf, ziplining, biking or taking a summer stroll. There’s plenty to do in Red River.
Cimarron Canyon State Park
If you love to fish, this is the place to go. We love river fishing. We put on our wader’s and just walk through the water catching trout. It is very peaceful here and very relaxing. There are many areas in Cimarron Canyon State Park to fish but be aware of the state park rules. Most areas you can keep the fish but there are some areas that are catch and release.
Camping is also available at Cimarron Canyon State Park. There are three campgrounds available for camping which are mostly for boon-docking but these campsites are very popular so be sure to make your reservation early.
Hiking Wheeler Peak
Wheeler Peak is the highest mountain in New Mexico at 13,159’. Many people hike the trails to the top of Wheeler Peak every year. JJ and I decided to do just that on our last day at Angel Fire. “We’re going to hike all the way to the top,” he said. Well ...we didn’t make it to the top of course. We didn’t start until noon and by 4pm we decided to turn around and head back. It was getting a little late. 🙂 I highly recommend hiking these trails. It’s beautiful and peaceful and I’m sure if you ever make it to the top, you’ll see a beautiful sight.
We love Angel Fire RV Resort. It is a very nice resort and the people who work there are very friendly. We highly recommend you try this resort at least once. And, with so much to do in Angel Fire, you can enjoy a very memorable trip to this area.
